{"id":520,"date":"2021-05-03T20:57:43","date_gmt":"2021-05-03T18:57:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.projectswitch.eu\/?p=520"},"modified":"2021-05-04T11:31:25","modified_gmt":"2021-05-04T09:31:25","slug":"how-to-prevent-social-stigma-and-minority-stress-in-transgender-individuals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.projectswitch.eu\/index.php\/2021\/05\/03\/how-to-prevent-social-stigma-and-minority-stress-in-transgender-individuals\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Prevent Social Stigma and Minority Stress in Transgender Individuals?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Transgender people face long-term systematic repression due to the social stigma associated with their gender identity. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">A number of studies confirm that transsexuals have been discriminated against because of their identity. <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">This discrimination is associated with various forms of stigmatization: social and economic; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">physical violence, inappropriate questions about sex life, beliefs, disqualification of a sports team, etc.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span class=\"\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">These stigmas have an impact on the development of minority stress, which has a higher prevalence of depression, anxiety and substance use than individuals with cisgender. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">For example, trans people have high levels of minority stress related to discrimination, psychological suffering, and emotional or social pain.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">What helps?
