Gender equality policies in the Czech Republic are gaining interest. At the end of 2021 the Committee for Sexual Minorities has discussed a critical recommendation addressed to the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports the Czech Republic, appealing for improvement of gender equality as well as proposing system changes in this field.

The Committee acts as a political advocate of gender policies and has now reacted to the practical needs and to the results of the SWITCH project. Members of the committee were informed about activities, seminars and support given to education experts by partners from Transparent and NUDZ.

Transgender issues are gaining interest across the whole education sector. Topics that are of interest include gender equality, inclusion and psychotherapeutic support. Teachers need to know how to handle everday situations when a trans child is present in their class.

In general the gender topics should be multidisciplinary. Teachers should be using a holistic approach and their education in this topic should be included on all levels. Gender topcis should be implemented into pregradual programme of future teachers and other relevant areas of their education.

The current solution of the practice is reflected in the declared recommendation the Committee on Sexual Minorities for the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports and the National Pedagogical Institute of the Czech Republic of 15.12.2021, they should start:

1) Initiating a working group to address the safe and favorable integration of trans children into the school environment other representatives of relevant non-governmental organizations and experts in the field; start work on methodological recommendations to ensure the integration of trans* children into education and the school environment.

2)  Working on methodological recommendations to ensure the integration of trans*children into education and the school environment;

3) initiating steps to include an accredited course dedicated to safe and favorable integration of children’s routes into the school environment in the educational offer of in-service teacher training (for teachers, methodologists, prevention methodologists, school psychologists, educational counselors and school management).
